About 200km from Athens, via the spectacular Corinth canal, lies the
beach front resort of Porto Rio. The nearby major town of Patras is
a busy port with ferry services to Italy and the Ionion islands.
Here too, you are within reach of the major archaeological sites of
Olympia, Delphi, Sparta, Mycenae and Epidavros. At the resort you

DIRECTIONS
BY ROAD: From
Athens airport, take the new road to Athens. At Geraka junction (end
of this road), follow signs to Kiffisia and National Road. When you
reach National Road, follow signs to Korinthos and after Isthmos
Channel, signs to Patras. At the end of the toll road and before
Patras, turn right. Porto Rio is 3kms. The Porto Rio Hotel is
situated on the beach front to the west of the town centre. BY
PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Buses and trains run approximately hourly from
Athens to Patras where you can hire a taxi to the resort. Some trains
stop at Rion, which is nearer to the resort than Patras.
TO HELP YOU FURTHER
There is a choice of beach cottages and apartments, suitable for two
or four people. Each has limited cooking facilities. All units have
air conditioning, heating, telephone and TV. Charges are levied for
some sports and recreational facilities. Electric voltage 220V. Maid
service is daily. Although many of the archeological sites can be
reached by public transport, a hire car would be useful. No pets
allowed. Live entertainment during summer months.
